Hello,

I am writing to you today to express my support for the creation of a sports hub in Orléans, which includes the construction of a sports dome at École secondaire catholique Garneau.

I want to share with you the many ways in which such a facility would benefit the entire community of Orléans, and I hope you can use this information to promote this major project to your fellow City councillors.

First, I believe that the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) acted in good faith and was transparent by consulting members of parents councils at all CECCE elementary and high school in Orléans; community members, the City of Ottawa, and a number of community partners and organizations. Following those consultations, the CECCE made many changes to its original plans, including reducing the size of the dome and relocating it to the west, farther from nearby homes. Throughout the process, it engaged in open dialogue and collaboration with the community.

I have gone over the CECCE’s proposal, and I believe that this new sports hub would be a major asset for Orléans. The physical and mental health of young and old alike matter to me, and that is why I think a new sports hub would be a great way to get people involved in all kinds of sports all year long no matter the weather. It is important to note that the facilities would be available not only to students but also to Orléans residents of all ages and to members and guests of sports associations. The sports hub and its state-of-the-art dome will most certainly expand the range of sports and cultural programs available locally, and we will all be better off as a result.

In my opinion, Ottawa City Council should support projects like this one, which will benefit the entire Orléans community. Considering the consultations that were held and the many concessions made by the CECCE in response to feedback from local residents, I strongly encourage you to support this project.

In closing, I strongly believe that this facility will enrich our community and be a priceless gift to future generations, who will benefit from it for years to come.
